PHOTOJOURNALISM

When I joined Yearbook my junior year, my biggest worry was taking photos. While I possessed skills in filming B-roll and video for broadcasting, mastering the split-second demands within the art of photography proved to be a challenge for me. Nevertheless, as my Yearbook journey unfolded, I learned more and more each day from Millard West's best photographers and learned everything I needed to know to get the best shot and tell a story while doing so. With my new found love for photography I've taken my skills on the sidelines of numerous sporting events within our school's community. Take a look below to see some of the photos I've taken over the years and click on each one to read the caption I wrote along with it.

This year during one of our Yearbook classes, we had the honor of welcoming former Associated Press Photographer, Shoun Hill into our classroom. After witnessing his photojournalism presentation during the NHSPA conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I wanted my peers to experience the vital information his presentation provided me. By giving us an inside look into the world of photography, our class collectively learned how to capture the perfect shot and tell a story while doing so.
