WEB & SOCIAL MEDIA
In today's age of technology, our social media accounts and online publications have significantly brought awareness and expanded viewership for our journalism program. Beyond being platforms for dispersing information, they have become vital tools, connecting us to a broader audience and allowing us to report and acknowledge current events. This real-time engagement not only raises awareness but also establishes us as a trustworthy source, contributing to informed and connected communities. Through these digital channels, we leverage technology as a dynamic force for community engagement, news distribution and program visibility.
THE CATALYST ONLINE
As a manager of our online newsite, the Catalyst, I assist in the design and layout of our site as well as in the publication of stories online. One goal that we have as a team is to publish a minimum of one story per day. Whether that be a broadcast, written story or photo gallery, we try to keep our audience engaged as much as we possibly can. Our efforts have been proven to be successful, as this past year we have received more views from both new readers and returning readers than in years pasts.

PUBLISHING ONLINE
After each story has gone through the editing process, I then integrate it into our digital publication's website. During this process, I directly paste the story from the Google Doc, placing essential elements like headlines, featured images and the reporter's name into the document. This allows me the flexibility to make any final adjustments to the story before formally submitting it.

PHOTOS & GRAPHICS
For every story featured in the Catalyst online and printed in the Catalyst newspaper, our priority is to incorporate at least one photo or infographic. This deliberate inclusion of visuals allows us to present each story through a fresh lens, offering readers a more immersive perspective on the specific event and a richer context for the story. Below is an example of photos I've incorporated alongside my story on our online newsite.

In the case where photos are hard to achieve, I create infographics to go along with my story. Often times in the area of opinion work, I find infographics to be helpful in putting out my opinion through statistics and information that is helpful toward your story. Take a look below to see some of the infographics I created to go along with a few of my written stories.

SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
On our Instagram and Twitter account we occasionally post a reminder for our followers to tune into the MWHS Wildcat News every Friday. I always make sure to get a picture of our anchors at work, so that I can go in and create a graphic for later. Posting these on our Instagram story and Twitter profile is not just a great way to promote our broadcasting network, but also gain new followers to create a larger consumer base for our broadcasting program.

In addition to posting reminders to watch our broadcast, we also utilize our social media platform as a way to acknowledge our achievements and awards as a team. We always make sure to notify our social media accounts when we realease the latest addition of our Catalyst newspaper and showcase the staff that helped put together the issue. By showcasing the work we've done and the achievements we've recieved we also bring more awareness to our program and encourage others to join.

On our Twitter account we post every time a story if published on our online website. This method has helped us both gain more traffic on our online website and bring in new viewers. By posting a direct link to our online publication we make it more accessible and more likely for someone to read the story.

MULTI-MEDIA JOURNALISM
As a contributor to the Prowler yearbook, Catalyst newspaper and MWHS Wildcat News, I've had the privilege of delving into diverse storytelling across various publications. During my time working on the three publications, I have been able to cover stories not just in one publication but dip into all three. This multi-media method offers our consumers a richer experience, particularly through broadcasts featuring immersive clips and videos that they normally wouldn't be able to visualize in a written story. By recognizing the unique readership/viewership of each publication, I emphasize the importance of covering stories on different platforms. Click on the images and videos below to view the different stories I've covered across our platform.
