NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

Throughout the month of November, our Justice and Diversity League created a display that not only celebrated the history and culture of Native Americans but also shed light on the critical issue of missing and murdered indigenous women. I interviewed the dedicated students who collected information and prepared the display. Writing about their display became more than just reporting; it was an opportunity to amplify the voices of these students, sharing their perspectives and contributions to an important display within our school community. LOVE ON A LEASH

During finals week, I attended the "Paws For a Cause Event" which provided a time for students to relieve their stresses of exams and quizzes and come pet a dog in the library. During the mini break out sessions I attended, I was not only able to tag along and pet a few dogs, but I also gathered insightful information from two seniors who collaborated with the local pet therapy organization, "Pups with a Purpose." Together, they orchestrated this event, fostering a welcoming environment for all participating students. This experience not only offered me a fun and exciting assignment but also served as a compelling avenue for storytelling, shedding light on the important subject of mental health. PUSHING THE PROPERTY TAX

When I started to tackle writing about the levy override I had zero idea what it actually was. After interviewing our school districts' Superintendent and Director of Employee Relations, I was a little less in the unknown and ready to speak on the topic. Having the opportunity to interview vital members our school's community, not only provided me with valuable information for my story, but provided me with an unforgettable experience as a high school journalist. As both a journalist and a student within the Millard Public Schools District, it held significance for me to not only report on the levy but also to ensure that the Millard community was well-informed. With my story I aimed to empower community members, providing them with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions when the time came to cast their votes. NEWS BRIEFS

As the Editor-in-Chief of the Catalyst newspaper I write all of the news briefs for our news pages. Including current news stories is a great opportunity not only to bring to light topics many aren't informed about, but acknowledge ongoing issues both around the world and locally. Take a look below to see some of the News Briefs I've written and placed in the Catalyst newspaper.
